Privacy policy

What we don’t collect

We don’t ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or photos. There are no accounts or profiles.

What we do collect

• An anonymous ID created when you open the chat, stored in your browser so you keep the same ID on that device.
• Your chat choices: the gender you select and who you want to talk to. The choice is also remembered in your browser for convenience.
• Chat records: which anonymous IDs were matched, when, and the messages sent.
• Reports and blocks: who reported whom, the reason and when.
• Technical data such as IP address and browser type, processed by our hosting and database providers for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting.

Why we keep messages

Messages are stored so we can investigate reports, block people who break the rules and keep the service safe. They are not sold or used for advertising. We may delete old chat data over time.

Games

Game moves (like tic-tac-toe moves or your secret picks) are sent directly between the two browsers in a chat and are not stored. Anything you type for a game, such as Two Truths & a Lie statements, is sent as a normal chat message.

Services we use

• Supabase: database, anonymous sign-in and realtime messaging.
• Vercel: website hosting.
• Cloudflare Turnstile (if enabled): bot protection before you start chatting.

Your choices

You can clear your browser’s site data at any time to remove your anonymous ID and saved choices from your device. Because we don’t know who you are, we can’t link past chats to you after that.

Children

ChatStranger is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow children to use the service.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
